Chestnut Ridge Sewing - Class Policies and Etiquette

Chestnut Ridge Sewing is proud to offer you an exceptional teaching staff and superior events. To make it enjoyable for all, we request that you adhere to the following policies. Thank you for having confidence in us as we further your sewing knowledge.

When food is provided please be aware that we are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions.

Registration

• To reserve your class spot, payment will be required at the time of registration

• Register online following this process: 

  1. Go to Sewing, Embroidery & Quilting Classes page on the CRS website 

  2. Click the event for which you want to register 

  3. Click the REGISTER NOW button

  4. Complete registration via Eventbrite

• If you would like to use a Chestnut Ridge sewing machine for your class, please reserve this when registering. Rental Charge is $20.00, unless stated otherwise.

• If you have purchased a pattern through CRS and then sign up for a class that includes that pattern, you will be given a store credit on the day of class. Please verify the purchase with a CRS receipt. Store Credit will be given for the amount paid.

• In the event you wish to bring someone to class with you, a separate registration is required for that person. Because there are sharp cutting tools, pins, hot irons, etc. a class is not a safe or appropriate setting for children. 

Class Supplies Class Etiquette

• Supply lists can be found on the class event page on the CRS website. Any pre-class preparations will be included on the supply list.   

• Please purchase your supplies ahead of class so you are prepared. All students receive a 15% discount on supplies required for classes. In order to receive your discount, please remind the staff that you are taking a class. We appreciate that you support our business!

• We respect copyright laws. Each student must have his/her own copy of any book or pattern required for the class. Photocopies are not acceptable. No exceptions. 

Cancellations

  • If you cannot attend a class, your class fee can be transferred to another class, with a 5 business day prior notice. You must register for the new class at the time of cancellation. If you cancel after that 5 business day period or do not transfer to another class, a store credit will be issued for the class fee, minus a $7.50 cancellation fee. (Store credit cannot be used to pay for classes or workshops.)

  • Special Events, such as the Berlin Grande Retreat, Spring Extravaganza, or other classes with a national educator have a different cancellation policy. If you cancel within 4 weeks of the first day of the event, we will issue a refund, minus a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel with less than 4 weeks notice, we will try to fill your spot as best we can. If we are able to do so, we will issue a refund minus the $50 cancellation fee. If we are unable to fill your spot, a store credit will be issued for half of the original fee, minus the $50 cancellation fee. (Store credit cannot be used to pay for classes or workshops.)

  • We reserve the right to cancel a class if there is not a minimum of 3 students. In the event of insufficient enrollment, a refund for the full class fee will be issued.

  • Class supplies and patterns for classes are not included in the class fee. The supply list for each class can be downloaded from the class registration page on our website. All students will receive a 15% discount on class supplies.

  • Patterns, books, and handouts cannot be shared or photocopied in accordance with copyright laws.

  • In order to begin the class on time, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes in advance of the posted class time in order to get yourself set up and ready for class.

  • Make-up sessions are not offered for missed classes.

  • Food and drink are permitted in the classroom. Drinks must have a screw-on cap. We have a refrigerator and microwave oven, if needed.

  • Please put your cell phones on vibrate or silent during class. If you need to make or receive a call during class, please step outside to avoid disrupting the class.

Class Etiquette


• Please arrive on time and be prepared with class materials and pre-class preparations completed. 

• Turn off cell phones (or at least put them on silent). If you must take a call, please step out of the classroom.

• Please pay attention to the instructor and allow others to do the same. 

• For everyone’s safety, please keep your work area clean, especially the floor space around you. 

• Beverages brought to class must have lids and be kept away from sewing machines and fabric. 

• Due to allergies, please do not wear perfumes, colognes, or scented lotions to class.
