Scallop Border Magic

Scallop Borders add an instant “va-va-voom” factor to any quilt! Using the Creative Grids Scallop Template takes all the math and guesswork out of creating these amazing borders on any size quilt, with any size border. In this class, you will learn to use the template and mark one of your own quilts for scallop borders. You will also make the bias binding needed for the quilt. If you don’t have a quilt top ready for this, you can still learn the technique by simply adding borders to a panel before class. (Information on how to do that is provided on the Supply List)

Supply list & pre-class work

**You will be learning this technique on one of your UNQUILTED quilt tops that has the border already attached. This tool will work well to create scallops on borders ranging in size from 2” - 12”.

General Class Description:

In this class, we will be working together and serging together to create this stylish and cozy hoodie.  This pattern is custom-fitted to your body, with cup sizes from C-H! If you have a larger chest or hips, hoodies often end up uncomfortably tight or sloppy and oversized, but Cahsmerette patterns are designed for curves to give you an amazing fit at the bustline AND at the rest of your body.

Although the Stanton pattern features a pullover and a zip-up version, in this class we will be making the PULLOVER.

You will be amazed at how fun and easy this hoodie is to make.  We will be using our sergers exclusively for construction and you will be guided step by step in the process.

able to digitize logos and drawings.

Class #2 focuses on fills. This includes satin, step, lace, and fancy fills as well as applique. We will discuss when to use each fill and how to adjust the parameters to best meet your needs. We will spend time learning when and how to use the Remove Overlaps feature.

We will review homework from Lesson #1.

Color Confidence Workshop

  • Chestnut Ridge Sewing (map)

Kick your color mojo into gear! This class is one in which we will explore color, fabric, and piecing techniques, so it will be a combination of exploration and play. Students will gain a deeper understanding of contrast and value, identify color inspiration in the world around them, and how to use technology to help plan and make their quilts.

Join artist and quilter Gerald Schwab as he guides you through the principles of color theory and how to apply that knowledge to quilting. Gerald will share his tips and techniques for pulling colors from different sources, such as fabrics, nature, and everyday objects to create harmonious color palettes that bring visual interest to quilts. The class will also focus on developing individual color styles, helping students to explore their own color preferences, and creating quilts that reflect their personal taste and style. There will be a variety of project options on which to work while learning about color, including a project that you choose to bring from home. (See the supply list for more information.)

Holiday Sentiments Card Class with Carol

Holiday Sentiments is all about helping you with the written sentiments on all the major holiday cards you create throughout the year. In this class you have a huge “bank” of digitized words to mix and match to create what you want your card to say. In other words, you build your own sentiment. Because these words are all separate, you can arrange them in a pleasing manner wherever they will fit on your particular card. This allows you more freedom! This class includes your card kit, list of the words, in alphabetical order, a PDF of the written instructions, and a list of the 180 sentiments Donna has developed. Your card making options are endless!

The price for the Sentimentally Yours Kit is higher because the download of designs you will receive the day of class is very large, In addition to the 113 words, you will receive 6 new rectangle template borders, 5 new quilt fills and 8 appliques shapes.
